Art, Artist Roberta Schilling - Riot of Color

I went a little crazy today when I walked into Home, At Last! The first thing my eyes landed on was this amazing and stunning arrangement of color and texture and shapes and forms and GOODNESS!

I am a complete and total sucker for something hand made, colorful, whimsical, textural, with a Mexican feel.....well, I don't even know quite how to explain it, but I know it when I see it, and it blows me away!

I  fumbled for my phone and snapped dead center, then closer, then to the right, then to the left.....all the while mumbling about wanting to take this fabulous thing home with me..................if only, if wasn't quite so expensive.

There are flowers of hand blown glass, hand carved little odds and ends, and lots and lots of found objects, all mixed together to form one giant floral arrangement in a flat base painted as a terra cotta urn.

The artist is Roberta Schilling

You can visit her website by clicking on her name.
I have to say, though, quite honestly, nothing on the website does it for me like this big, fabulous assemblage of color and energy, found right here in my lil' ol' town of Fredericksburg, Texas.

Come see it for yourself!

  1. I think this piece has your name all over it Ann! So happy and festive!

hope y'all are starting cooling off!

  2. You find the best things! That sculpture gets richer the closer one gets (which is the way I like to view artwork). I notice that some of the found objects are hand-carved butttons - wow!

  3. What an interesting piece. I love all the crystals she used. I could see that in your house..............(not that I am trying to be a bad influence or anything:)

  4. It is gorgeous!!! I checked out her site and love her work. She's got some great creative ideas... which is what her art is all about! I LOVE all the different textures she uses.

  5. Ann, I would be so excited to know that a good friend had this piece in her lovely home because it is hard for me to part with it!
I hope to see you soon!

  6. Gorgeous color. It looks very Mexican with the bird in the center. The colors couldn't be purer. Love it!

  7. I have to wholeheartedly agree, I would have been captivated too. It's absolutely beautiful, every little piece. Something new to see every direction you look. What a spectacular work of art! Thank you so much for sharing - you have such an eye for the most lovely things on earth!

  8. Thought I'd drop in and say hello.
Looks like you're having a blast exploring and sharing....Happy Fall.

  9. Love it! I miss the time when my mom lived in New Mexico near Santa Fe and we would go through all of the galleries there. This reminds me of that. A great find!

Congrats Ann! You won the Charles Faudree book!

  10. What a great piece, I LOVE it!
